Could you Organise our Next Saturday League Event on 23 April 2022?
Following on from our great Millbuies event, where we had a number of new families attend, we would love to maintain the momentum and have our next Saturday League event in April. Unfortunately, we are still short of an organiser to do so. Pippa has kindly volunteered to be the planner, but an organiser for Dufftown is still needed to bring everything together on the day. Even if you haven’t organised before, then please do not worry as you will have a mentor to help. Access, permissions and entry details will be arranged for you, so the main role entails coordinating the risk assessments, final details and setting up/taking down the kit on the day. Without someone coming forward, we may have to cancel the event.
If you are interested, then please contact newsletter@mor.scot, by 14 March 2022. Go on – give it a try......!

Overall Winner of Club Championships – Held in Roseisle in September. Donald Grassie
Rogan Trophy is awarded each year to the club junior up to the age of 16 who has excelled in demonstrating club spirit. This is usually achieved by regularly attending and competing at club events, but more significantly, the junior should display a great attitude towards assisting with the organisation at our many varied club events. Typically, they should demonstrate enthusiasm and willingness to help in many situations. Assistance with registration, collecting controls, introducing new friends, simple course planning, mentoring are all good examples. Adopting this spirit helps to foster a successful and friendly orienteering club.
There were a number of candidates, but when it came to nominating the winner, the Committee was unanimous in agreement. This person has demonstrated outstanding club spirit throughout 2020 and 2021 by enthusiastically supporting the Club in planning events (including a MAD course and Saturday League events), working with Active Schools to put on and deliver coaching activities for school children, in being a strong supporter of club events, including travelling to the Compass Sport Cup Final in Yorkshire, and in helping and volunteering. The winner is Michael Bishenden.
Climie Shield is awarded each year to the club junior up to the age of 16 who has displayed the best improvement in their overall orienteering performance. Recognition may also include their achievements in any orienteering event through their participation and by progressively attaining better results throughout the season
There were a number of candidates. However, the winner for 2020 and 2021 is someone who participated in a number of events including the Scottish Junior Cup and every SOL event of 2021, with each SOL event scoring progressively higher points. She finished second overall in the W14A category of the 2021 SOL standings and as a result of her achievements was selected for Scotjos. The winner is Scarlett Britain.
Most Improved Adult. There were again a number of candidates. However, the winner has shown determination and commitment to improving his orienteering throughout 2020 and 2021 and has really focused on urban events, where his results have significantly improved. This culminated in him winning the last Scottish Men’s SuperVet Urban event of 2021 to finish 2nd in the overall Men’s’ SuperVet Scottish Orienteering League standings. The winner is Colin Hall.
Moravian Bull Trophy. This is a new trophy to recognise adult contribution and is awarded to: "The individual who has made a sustained contribution to the running of the club in a variety of ways over a number of years. The nominated individual will have supported a diversity of club activities that have resulted in the continued success of Moravian Orienteers.''
There are a number of candidates, but for our first time in awarding the trophy, there are two individuals that the Committee would like to recognise (so they will have to share the trophy for half the time). The first is someone who has continued to be a pivotal member of the Club for many years, being a previous Club Captain and the Club’s long-standing and dedicated force behind the weekly eNewsletter, results publishing, routegadget, club kit and general help and support. The winner is Margaret Dearman. The second winner is someone who has been involved with events and permissions over a number of years, and showed much enthusiasm and commitment to getting our local events going during lockdown. She has been a regular helper, event COVID officer and organiser, including the assistant organiser of Day 3 at last year’s Scottish 6 Days. The winner is Nikki Howard.
