British Mountain Biking Orienteering

Event Summary

Welcome to a Mountain Biking Orienteering Event at the Carse of Ardersier.  Two courses will be on offer which are suitable for all age groups and all bike types.  Participants must wear a helmet and have a serviceable bicycle with a bell.  Under 16s must be accompanied.

Directions and Parking

Directions.  From the east, take the A96 through Nairn to the Whiteness turning (just past the Delnies Caravan Park). Opposite the new port security gate, turn left towards Ardersier.  After 100m turn right onto a minor road and follow this for 3.2 km through the woods to parking near the road junction: https://what3words.com/gurgling.success.snowy.  From the west, take the A96 towards Nairn.  At the turn signposted Whiteness, just before the Delnies Caravan Park, turn left and then follow the directions above.

The nearest public toilets are in Nairn (by the putting green on the links area).

Courses

The event will entail two courses:

  • Short course (8.5 km).
  • Long course (15km).

The courses are suitable for all age groups and all bike types. Participants must wear a helmet and have a serviceable bicycle with a bell.  Under 16s must be accompanied.

A limited number of map boards are available to hire (£1).  Please reserve by email to mtbo@mor.scot.

Entries are online via the British Mountain Biking Orienteering website.   

Entries close on 12 September 2024.

  • Senior - £6.
  • Senior BMBO Member - £5.
  • Junior - £3.

If you have symptoms of COVID or have tested positive to COVID, then do not attend the event or activity to help avoid spreading infection.

Safety & Risk

  • All Competitors take part at their own risk and a choose a course that matches their experience and fitness.

  • Yellow and White course competitors must collect their maps from registration before going to the start.

  • You MUST report to Download by Course Closing Time

  • Be careful on/near/crossing any roads

  • All competitors must wear warm clothing and /or waterproof clothing as appropriate.

  • Competitors are advised to notify the organiser of any relevant medical conditions and should complete any details on SI entries.

Important Information

Safety and Risk: A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. You MUST report to download by course closing time.

Insurance: If you have joined an orienteering club, or are competing in one of your first 3 events, then you are covered by our public liability insurance.

Privacy: when participating in our events/activities your name may appear in the results section of this website or in newspaper reports. Read our Privacy Policy to see how we look after your personal data.

Hired Si Cards: We provide loan of these if you don't have your own but if you lose it there will be a £30 charge for its replacement.
