    Club Champs and AGM Postponement
The committee. has decided to postpone the club champs event and AGM from 21st August to 18th September. Our event on 21st August has been postponed but the Stockholm JROS squad are offering an evening event in Findhorn (more details from Elizabeth) and Steve Smirthwaite is planning a mountain bike event on his return from Edinburgh to keep us busy. The club champs will be in a score format with the AGM straight after and be held in Roseisle so the hardy among us can still go swimming. More details next week. Apologies to our members for the postponement.

Entries open tomorrow for the next SOL hosted by MAROC
You can read all the details here    It also mentions a SOL on the previous day, hosted by GRAMP, but as yet there are no details available for this. These events are due to be on the 4th and 5th of September.

    Great Britain team selections

Our very own ISOBEL HOWARD has been selected to represent Great Britain this summer at the European Youth Orienteering Championships (EYOC) scheduled to take place 20-22 August in Kocaeli, Turkey. Isobel is one of 3 W16s selected. And that is not all... She has also been named as reserve for the GB Women’s team at the Junior World O Championships (JWOC) due to take place 5-10 September in Vilnius, Lithuania. As a W16 this is not something that happens very often but in the Selection races at the beginning of June Isobel  won the W16 Sprint and the Long, which she won by 6 minutes at a min/km pace on a par with the best W18/20s. Over this past year, Isobel developed her training plan and did a lot of excellent sessions, mainly on her own and her commitment and hard work has translated in to results which the Selectors have recognised.

Clearly, there is a big question mark as to whether either/neither of these championships take place/travel is possible etc etc but there is no taking away from the fact that Isobel is good enough to be selected for GB representation. Congratulations!

  • Event Report Dallas Dhu (Altyre)

Last Saturday 22nd May, MOR held their long anticipated Altyre Local event, The event centre had to be relocated to the Dallas Dhu distillery after the original parking was lost. Thanks to those competitors who biked to the event and reduced the parking requirement. Dave Ritchie rejigged his courses to allow for a reasonable walk to the start/finish, providing  Blue, Green, Orange and Yellow courses which made excellent use of the area.

There were good junior performances on the day, Lili Sharman won the Yellow course in 25:02, Anna Howard won Orange in 38:52, Finlay McLuckie won Green in 30:06 and Michael Bishenden won Blue in 43:30. All of the Results and Routegadget can be found on the Results page. There are already lots of routes up for you to compare to your own.

The weather was fine compared to recent days and Karen Fraser did a great job organising, with help on registration and download from Rosie Pye and Ian Welsh.

The next Saturday event is at Culbin East, details on the Events Tab.

    Darnaway Saturday League
What a great day we had for our return from the nether regions. Great weather, great courses (thanks Karen) and wasn't it great to see everyone again!! The results and Routegadget are all available. Quite a number have put their courses up on the light green course, but only one orange runner, and that was me! Come on orange runners, I have no-one to run my course against. You don't need to be a high flyer to put your route up. Drawing your route is easy. You don't need a GPS watch, but you can download your course if you have one. See how to do it here.

    Coaching Update
Roseisle MAD Yellow – the controls will be collected on Thursday from the Yellow. The Short Green and Green will remain out until the end of the month. Note that there is no longer a kite at No.1 but there is a piece of tape.

  • Thursday Hills is back!

We will recommence Hill training on Thursday (18th March). As this is a club activity risk assessments have been completed and the activity registered with BOF.

Before each session there will be a quick Covid briefing and a participation register will be kept. Each participant will be required to have completed a contact data form. These have been kept for those that attended in the autumn so only new participants will need to register.

See you at 09.30 by the cricket pavilion in Grant Park, Forres. Moravian tops and hats welcome.
